The Most Important Part Of Your Swing

What is the most important part of your swing? The backswing? The downswing? The finish? Nope…it is at IMPACT. You may find pro golfers on TV with different backswings (though these days the swings are all looking similar – not like the old days of Fred Couples, Nancy Lopez  or Arnold Palmer). But even today, if you watch Jim Furyk – who has a very different golf swing than most – at impact, he is in the same position as all the top golfers. At impact – 4 things must be happening: weight on front leg (80-90%), clubshaft leaning forward ahead of clubhead, hips turned out of way, and staying in your spine angle (posture). Now THAT is SOLID CONTACT. How do you get there? By learning not to start the downswing with the arms, but with the legs and core. That’s where your power is derived from. Use the big muscles of your legs and trunk to move the little muscles of your arms and hands. So watch the players at impact – they are all the same – and that is the most important part of any golf swing. Want to learn more?
